From 100K to Over 2 Million: The Story Behind the Play Buttons

· The Creator

Two play buttons show up in the photos on this site: a silver one and a gold one. Here's the timeline behind them, from the first upload to today.

When did it all start?

My first uploads went up in March 2019, starting with a video about losing my pet snake in a college lecture hall. After that came a break, and after I graduated college I started uploading consistently again in May 2021.

When did the channel pass 100,000 subscribers?

In February 2022. That's the silver play button, the one I'm pointing at in my white LOFE tee with the red lightning-bolt lettering. The same LO/FE bolt is one of the designs in the shop.

And 1 million?

In October 2022, eight months later. The gold play button reads "For passing 1,000,000 subscribers", and you can see it in the photos on the home page and the About page.

Where is the channel now?

Today the channel has over 2 million subscribers on YouTube. The videos are still comedic pranks and vlogs, and many of the pranks are still set around the University of Minnesota and in restaurants and stores.

What does that have to do with the merch?

Each design keeps the humour from the videos:

  • Proud Buffoon and the buffoonery definition, for the ridiculous-but-amusing side.
  • Lofe's Bakery, open 24/7 in Minnesota, USA.
  • Caution: Wet Moms, a hazard sign with a slipping stick figure.
  • 30 PPS, in retro sunset stripes.

All of them come on tees, long sleeves, crewnecks and hoodies, plus kids' and youth sizes.
